Hi, I’m Maria 👋

 

My journey has been shaped by movement, reinvention, and cultural contrast. With roots in 🇷🇸 / 🇭🇷 and life chapters spent across 🇷🇸 🇲🇦 🇸🇬, I eventually found my way to 🇨🇦 at the age of 20. Life later brought me back to 🇷🇸, and once again to 🇨🇦 in 2016 each transition adding depth, perspective, and resilience to who I am today.

 

A Path Shaped by Reinvention

 

My story is not linear it’s layered. A collection of lived experiences, creative pursuits, and personal reinventions that ultimately led me to build Shibui Nails in 2018 as a private, one-on-one studio.

What began as a space dedicated to nail artistry quickly became something more meaningful: a place for thoughtful self-expression, quiet confidence, and intentional care. Nails became my medium, but connection and trust became the foundation.

The name Shibui reflects the Japanese philosophy of understated beauty simplicity, depth, and elegance without excess. That philosophy guides every decision I make in my work and in the studio environment.

 

Nail Care as Craft

 

At Shibui Nails & Inks, nail services are approached as a craft rather than a trend. From structured gel systems like BIAB and hard gel to detailed nail art, the focus is always on balance between aesthetics, durability, and natural nail health.

Every appointment is one-on-one, unhurried, and tailored. Precision, hygiene, and respect for individual preferences are non-negotiable.

 

Expanding into Paramedical Tattooing: Art as Healing

Over time, my work naturally expanded into paramedical tattooing a deeply meaningful extension of my creative practice.

These services are designed to support individuals navigating medical changes, including scars, stretch marks, burns, or post-surgical pigmentation. Paramedical tattooing allows me to combine technical skill with compassion, offering treatments that prioritize realism, sensitivity, and emotional well-being.

Each paramedical tattoo tells a story  not of perfection, but of resilience, healing, and restored confidence.
