Hi, I’m Maria 👋

 

My journey has been shaped by movement, reinvention, and cultural contrast. With roots in 🇷🇸 / 🇭🇷 and life chapters spent across 🇷🇸 🇲🇦 🇸🇬, I eventually found my way to 🇨🇦 at the age of 20. Life later brought me back to 🇷🇸, and once again to 🇨🇦 in 2016 each transition adding depth, perspective, and resilience to who I am today.

 

A Path Shaped by Reinvention

 

My story is not linear—it’s layered. A collection of lived experiences, creative pursuits, and transitions eventually led me to build Shibui Nails in 2018 as a private, one-on-one studio.

What began as a space dedicated to nail artistry gradually became something more meaningful: a place for thoughtful self-expression, quiet confidence, and intentional care. Nails became my medium, but connection and trust became the foundation.

The name Shibui reflects the Japanese philosophy of understated beauty simplicity, depth, and elegance without excess. That philosophy continues to guide my work and the studio environment today.

At Shibui Nails & Inks, nail services are approached as a craft rather than a trend. From structured gel systems like BIAB and hard gel to detailed nail art, the focus is always on balancing aesthetics, durability, and respect for the natural nail.

Every appointment is one-on-one, unhurried, and tailored to the individual. Precision, hygiene, and respect for personal preferences are non-negotiable.

 

Expanding into Paramedical Tattooing: Art as Healing

Over time, my work naturally expanded into paramedical tattooing a deeply meaningful extension of my creative practice.

These services are designed for individuals navigating visible changes to their skin, including scars, stretch marks, burns, and post-surgical pigmentation. Through scar and stretch mark camouflage, inkless revision, and areola pigmentation, my approach combines technical skill with patience, sensitivity, and realistic expectations.

Every treatment begins with the understanding that skin, scars, and healing responses are individual. The goal is not perfection, but thoughtful, restorative work that respects both the skin and the person behind it.
