Citizen of the World – Chapter 6: Healing Through Art

I’ve never been one to follow trends.Every decision I’ve made in life and in my craft has come from a feeling, a quiet pull that tells me this is right.

When I first began working with nails, it felt natural a balance of structure, art, and a little chemistry. It gave me a place to express creativity with precision. But I’ve always been curious, always searching for meaning beneath the surface. And one day, that curiosity led me to paramedical tattooing.

I can’t say there was a single defining moment just that when I discovered it, something inside me lit up.It felt like finding a new language for care a way to transform pain into beauty, to help someone reclaim a part of themselves that life had altered.

Paramedical tattooing isn’t just about covering a scar. It’s about softening a memory. It’s about giving someone the freedom to look in the mirror without being reminded of what they’ve been through.

In my studio, these sessions happen in quiet. There’s no rush, no performance just presence. Often, my clients share their stories as I work. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we sit in silence. It’s not only a physical process; it’s an emotional one.

It feels like two people meeting in truth releasing pain together, one breath at a time. The energy in the room shifts lighter, calmer, freer.

Every time I see that moment when a client looks at their reflection and their shoulders relax, or a small smile replaces tension I feel it too. The healing isn’t one-sided. It moves between us, both giving and receiving peace.

Through this work, I’ve learned that art can be more than expression it can be restoration. It’s the bridge between what was lost and what’s becoming whole again. And that, to me, is the most beautiful form of creation there is.

Over time, this work changed me as much as it helped others. Holding space for pain taught me patience, humility, and respect for what people carry silently. I learned that healing doesn’t always mean removing what happened sometimes it means softening its hold.

In these moments, I am reminded that care is not about control or outcome. It’s about presence. When someone feels safe enough to release what they’ve been carrying, even briefly, the healing moves through both of us.

Closing Reflection

Healing doesn’t always happen in hospitals or therapy rooms.

Sometimes, it begins in stillness through color, touch, and trust.

Art becomes the language that frees us both
