Citizen of the World – Chapter 9: The Language of Touch
Before words, there was touch. Before explanations, reassurance, or understanding there was the simple act of one human being caring for another.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that touch is its own language. It speaks softly, honestly, and without judgment. It doesn’t ask for perfect sentences or shared vocabulary. It only asks for presence.
In my work, touch is never rushed. It’s intentional, respectful, and aware. Whether I’m creating nails or performing paramedical tattooing, my hands listen before they act. They sense tension, hesitation, and sometimes unspoken pain. Often, clients don’t need to explain their stories their bodies already have.
There are moments in the studio where words fade away.Silence settles in, not awkward or empty, but full. In that quiet, something shifts. Shoulders soften. Breathing slows. Trust forms not because anything was said, but because something was felt.
Touch creates a bridge. It allows people to feel safe without being exposed, supported without being analyzed. It’s a reminder that care doesn’t always need solutions sometimes it simply needs to be steady and kind.
For many of my clients, this is the first time their body has been approached without judgment. Without expectation. Just with care. And in that space, healing begins not dramatically, but gently.
This language has taught me as much as I’ve given through it.It’s shown me that connection doesn’t require similarity, shared history, or explanation. It only requires respect and attention.
In a world that speaks loudly and constantly, touch reminds us of something older and wiser that we are not alone, and we never have been.

Closing Reflection
Touch speaks where words fall short.
It reminds us that healing begins not in explanation, but in presence.
